Construction Projects update

Since the last newsletter, New Zealand has been at COVID19 alert levels 4, 3 and 2. Our three construction projects – the indoor aquatic centre, the north extension of the indoor performance complex and the new 60 bed hostel have continued to progress well despite the lockdowns.

Last week we celebrated a ‘roof shout’ for the aquatic centre with construction project lead Apollo Projects and their supporting sub-contractors.

The roof isn’t fully installed yet, however the learn to swim area is close to being covered and the main pool hall roof will take approximately a month.

Both the learn to swim pool and the 50 metre pool have arrived in Napier. The learn to swim pool walls are being built as soon as the roof is complete with the main pool to follow.

Other arrivals include the pool filters which will be lifted into place shortly, followed by the pool water services. Meanwhile the block walls and services to the changing rooms are well underway and will be progressing over the next month.

The pre-cast panels for the extension of the current Performance Gym and Sports Hall have been erected and work over the next three months includes the demolition of cladding and removal of steel brace frame.  This will complete the precast panel, steelwork installation, roofing and wall framing.

The 60 bed hostel, being built by Alexander Construction, is taking shape and will be an amazing asset for Mitre10 Park when completed.

Work over the next three months includes completing the roofing, aluminum joinery, cladding, ceiling framing, insulation, first fix services and internal linings.
