Our Te Tūranga Athlete Development Programme continues to demonstrate its impact, with a wave of outstanding achievements by our athletes on both national and international stages.

Developing young talent through structured training, mentorship, and strength & conditioning  is proving to be a successful launching pad for future sporting stars.

As these athletes continue to excel in their respective fields, we remain committed to nurturing the next generation of sporting talent in Hawkes Bay. The Te Tūranga Athlete Development Programme continues to cement its place as a premier athlete development hub in New Zealand.

 

Our athletes successes across multiple disciplines: 

Mountain Biking: Tyler Waite showcased his exceptional talent and hard work by claiming the title of Oceania Downhill Mountain Bike Champion.

Equestrian: Carys McCrory delivered a stellar performance at Horse of the Year, securing a silver medal in her category.

Hockey: Emily Brun and Nichole have been selected for the Junior JHL Hawke’s Hockey Team, marking another milestone in their young careers.

Athletics: Rylan’s Noome claimed silver in the U20’s 100m Nationals (finishing 7th overall) and another silver in the 200m at the Athletics Nationals in Dunedin.

Canoe Racing: Matt McKendry’s selection for the U18 Asia Pacific Squad for canoe racing in Japan highlights his impressive development within the sport.

Basketball: Clifton Bush III has made a remarkable comeback for the Hawke’s Bay basketball team, playing a starring role as they sit at the top of the table.

Touch Rugby: Noah Robinson was a key part of the U16 Maori National Touch Rugby Champions team in 2025.

Volleyball: Ali Aljabiri and Mana Barham demonstrated their impressive teamwork and skills by securing second place at the Super 8 Volleyball Championships.

Surf Life Saving: Aimee Fisher proved her dominance in the water, securing the national surf lifesaving doubles championship.

Lifesaving & IRB Racing: The Hawke’s Bay champs saw remarkable results, with Beau Marshall securing first place in multiple categories, including Open Male Assembly, Tube, Mass, Single, and Teams Rescues.

Rowing: Aishling White claimed bronze in the North Island Rowing Quad.

Triathlon: Reeve Dooney emerged victorious in his age group (20-24) at the World Triathlon Series in Napier.
