The Hawke’s Bay Regional Aquatic Centre is proud to announce its participation in Coastguard New Zealand’s nationwide fundraising initiative, The Big Swim, taking place throughout June 2025. This event invites swimmers of all levels to set personal swimming goals and gather sponsorship to fund vital services that keep New Zealanders safe on the water. 

As a partner pool, the Centre is offering a special incentive: participants who raise over $100 will receive a wristband granting them free access to our pools during the month of June. This initiative not only supports a worthy cause but also encourages community members to stay active and engaged.

The Big Swim is more than just a fitness challenge; it's a community effort to support Coastguard New Zealand, a charity powered by over 2,000 volunteers dedicated to maritime search and rescue. With 60% of Coastguard’s funding coming from public generosity, every dollar raised during The Big Swim makes a significant difference.

How to Participate:

1. Register: Sign up for The Big Swim at bigswim.org.nz.

2. Set Your Goal: Choose a distance to swim during June—be it 5km, 10km, 20km, or a custom goal.

3. Fundraise: Share your challenge with friends, family, and colleagues to gather sponsorship.

4. Swim: Track your progress and enjoy swimming at our world-class facility.

5. Enjoy the Perks: Raise over $100 to receive your wristband for free pool access in June.
